Let's Talk About Accelerated Reader Changes

FIRST GRADERS WILL NOT START ACCELERATED READER UNTIL OCTOBER 1.

New Goal

The new goal of Accelerated Reader is to take the focus off of individual students and make the focus more for classrooms to meet a group goal decided upon by the teacher and students together each month. 

Incentives

There will be monthly incentives for meeting classroom goals.  To be eligible for these incentives, every student must contribute to the classroom goal.

More reading selection

Students will be tested for a reading range using the Star Reading Test.  Students may check out books at the end of their reading range and below.  For example, if a child's range is 0.9-1.5, that student can check out any book at 1.5 or below.
