    Ella

Ella Fizgearld once said, "I try to do what I think a horn would play."  I think she should  on a postal stamp because she gave us a new look at music.

She earned 14 Grammy Awards including Lifetime Achievement Award i 1967 which means she was a hard worker.

The recording companies didn't want blacks to sing ballads but Ella sang like a canary and opened the door for everyone else.

She began a series of songbooks based on classic songs by Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, and Cole Porter just to name a few.

Ella was forced to retire which ended her career as a singer.  That's why she should be on a postal stamp so she can be honored and live on in our hearts.

Janet Jackson

I think you should hear about a beautiful woman who deserves to be on a US postal stamp. Janet Jackson should because.......

She's been in "Nutty Professor" and "The Clumps."  Those are hilarious movies.  They were given two thumbs up!!!  This Grammy Award-winning pop-funk singer whose soft, sexy dancing make her athletic performance take a front seat in her life.

Her records are "Control "(1986), "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814" (1989), and "Janet" (1993) and also in 1996 she became the countries highest paid pop star.

If you disagree that Janet deserves to be on a US postal stamp just think of how much profit the US post office would get!!!  I absolutely think she's great for a US postal stamp!!!!!!

Martin Luther King

Can I tell you about Martin Luther King Jr.?  His father knew that in Atlanta, Georgia, where the family lived, Martin as an African American would be treated by most of the city's white population as an inferior person.  He grew up though to change the world.  That's why I think he should be on a postage stamp.

Next, as a young man, Martin had some question as to what he wanted to do with his life.  Then, it occurred to Martin that he could become a minister to help people and serve God.  Finally, one day he said, "I have a dream."  He gave a famous speech that changed the world.

I think he was a famous African American.  I think everybody will agree with me.  Why don't you pick him to be on the postage stamp.

Kareem Abdul-Jabar

Do you know who Kareem-Abdul Jabar is?  Well, I'm going to tell you.  He was one of the best UCLA basketball players ever.

I think Kareen Abdul-Jabar should be on a postage stamp. One of the reasons is he won up to three national titles between 1967 and 1969.

In addition, he was one of the best UCLA basketball players ever.  During his career, he was named most valuable player six times and player of the year twice.  His team thought he was more valuable than a pot of gold.

The last reason he should be on a postage stamp is, he retired in 1989 after 20 seasons as all time leader in over 20 categories.

Some people might not agree with me.  Some people might say other people in the UCLA are better than him.

But I still think Karem Abdul-Jabar should be on a postage stamp.  Did you learn anything about him?

Aaliyah Dana Haughton

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 16, 1979.  I think Aaliyah should be on a beautiful postage stamp so we can remember her because she died at an early age.  She died in the Bahamas August 25, 2001.

She was a rhythm and blues singer and actress who was on the brink of superstardom and she appeared in the 2000 film "Romeo Must Die."  Her recent self-titled album reached no. 2 on the Billboard album chart.  This album is from the up coming movie "Queen of the Damned."

Tragedy struck in August 2001 when after filming a video in the Bahamas, Aaliyah and various members of her record company attempted to fly home.  I think she should be on the stamp because she died when she was 22.  So we can remember her.

People may disagree, but I think she should be because she was a great performer.  Would you like to be a good singer like Aaliyah and be on a postage stamp?

Brandy

Brandy was born February 11, 1979.  She is a teen singing star and she won the MTV award.  That's one reason I think she should be on a postal stamp.

She is a perfect teen role model receiving the 1997 Image Award.  She is a s beautiful as a butterfly.  Currently the star of UPN's Moesha, she also starred opposite Whitney Houston in "Cinderella" in 1997 and continues her singing career.

Her first single was "I Wanna Be Down" in 1994 which led to her eponymous debut album later that year, and "Never Say Never" in 1998.

Some people may think she's not as important as Jackie Robinson or somebody like that but I think she is.

That's why I think Brandy should be on a postal stamp!
